WHO ARE WE?
Bay Shore-Brightwaters COMPASS is a dedicated group of parents, school professionals, students and community leaders who are concerned with a healthy development of the children of the Bay Shore - Brightwaters community.
We are working in conjunction with the Suffolk Coalition to Prevent Alcohol and Drug Dependencies, Inc. to address the issue of early substance use and abuse. Our hope is to unite the community and to provide resources to families and children that encourage and support healthy choices. WHAT ARE OUR GOALS?
To reduce the incidence of substance abuse among youth and adults by increasing protective factors and moving towards reversing and reducing known risk factors.
To enhance the coalition's efforts to influence community norms.
To decrease the availability of illegal substances
To promote regulations restricting sales of alcohol and tobacco to minors.
To increase citizen actions to support these efforts.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
GET INVOLVED!
Attend monthly COMPASS meetings to help keep the coalition strong.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of children and families in our community. Click here to learn more about risk factors and protective factors >>
