The garden is located on south side of Main Street, in between Ocean and Park Ave., next to Kim's Upholstery.

There are many opportunities to become an everlasting part of the garden. Community members, businesses and organizations continue to reserve spots in the garden to honor or memorialize family and friends.

The Bay Shore Beautification Society Community Reflection Garden is open! The ribbon -cutting was held June 27 and was attended by over 100 people. The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Beautification Co-chairs Sue Boudreau and Gail Farrell, assisted by Suffolk County Legislator Cameron Alden, Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan, Councilman Steve Flotteron. and representatives of Senator Hillary Clinton. The ceremony opened with the Star Spangled Banner sung by Janine DeNatale and refreshments provided by Bagel Café, Milk and Sugar, Shoprite and Stop and Shop followed the ribbon-cutting.

The garden has been receiving rave reviews from the residents who have been enjoying the serenity and beauty found in this haven on Bay Shore’s Main Street. Residents have been relaxing with coffee and newspapers on the benches surrounding the fountain, playing chess on the game tables and strolling among
the magnificent landscaping.

The week preceding the ribbon-cutting Billy Knapp’s landscaping crew planted hundreds of shrubs, trees and perennials to transform the site into what one visitor described as “a Paradise!” while her friend declared, “I’m never going to leave!” Billy worked from early hours into the evening to make sure that the garden was ready and perfect for the grand opening, and no one was disappointed with the perfection he created.

Many people contributed to the completion of the garden, but special thanks are given to Mike and Barbara Barone of Suffolk Plumbing who donated the complete sprinkler system.
