Bay Shore kicks off its 300 th Anniversary with Tricentennial Restaurant Week.
From April 1 - 10, eighteen area restaurants will be featuring prix fix meals for $17.08 and $20.08.   The first of many events scheduled to celebrate this historic waterfront hamlet's 300 th year, Tricentennial Restaurant Week puts the spotlight on Bay Shore's burgeoning restaurant scene.   Whether you are a fan of barbeque, seafood, or sushi, Bay Shore is home to some of Long Island's best restaurants.

This popular annual school district-sponsored "town meeting" features community and school updates, live entertainment, community and school expo, free food from local restaurants and supermarkets, preview screening of trailer for "The Bay Shore Story," and interactive student produced Tricentennial DVD.   This year opening session attendees will receive special Tricentennial gifts.

Ken Burns style documentary created to commemorate
Bay Shore's Tricentennial, this moving 70 minute documentary tells the story of a hamlet that is beloved by its residents. By interviewing long time residents, local historians, and community leaders, Director, Stephanie Walter Williams has created an accurate portrait of a uniquely beautiful and diverse community that has both struggled and thrived over the past three centuries.

An afternoon party on the lawn of one of Long Island's most historic sites, featuring food from area restaurants. Official Tricentennial Program will include ceremonial presentation of the Queen Anne Patent (originally granted by the Colonial Governor and Council to John Mowbray on October 8, 1708).   Attendance by a representative of the British Embassy and local, state and federal elected representatives is anticipated.

"Sharing Treasured Memories of Bay Shore and Brightwaters"

This Bay Shore Tricentennial program presents memories gathered these past fourteen years by Priscilla Hancock. Each memory has been preserved in the Society's ALBUM OF TREASURED MEMORIES and will be presented by members of the community. Come and reminisce or learn about the Hurricane of 1938, World War II in Bay Shore, A Halloween "trick", mischief on Main Street, poetic memories, a Brightwaters "splash," a 1930's gala at Southward Ho, the Fire Island Queen and other precious memories of Bay Shore and Brightwaters.
